Ziprax Indications
Ziprax is indicated in the treatment of the following infections:
- Acute Bronchitis and Acute Exacerbations of Chronic Bronchitis;

- Uncomplicated Urinary Tract Infections;
Ziprax Dosage
Reconstitution of Ziprax Dry Syrup
Bottle-Size 30 ml: To reconstitute, suspend with 21 ml water .
Method: Tap the bottle several times to loosen powder contents prior to reconstitution. Add approximately half the total amount of water for reconstitution and shake well. Add the remainder of water and shake well.
Children: The recommended dose is 8 mg/kg/day of the suspension. This may be administered as a single daily dose or may be given in two divided doses, as 4 mg/kg every 12 hours. In Typhoid the dose is 20 mg/kg/day in two divided doses or as a single dose
In the treatment of infections due to S. pyogenes , a therapeutic dosage of Ziprax should be administered for at least 10 days.
Adults: The recommended dose of Ziprax is 400 mg daily. This may be given as 400 mg once daily or as 200 mg every 12 hours.
For the treatment of uncomplicated cervical/urethral gonococcal infections, a single oral dose of 400 mg is recommended.
Ziprax Contraindications
Ziprax is contraindicated in patients with known allergy to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics.
